Symptoms

 AnyBackup Linux client installation fails with the error:

 ***Error: Installation path /root/ below, there will be a permissions issue, please install the client to build a directory in the /. !***
 

 

Impact

AnyBackup Linux client installation fails.

 

Cause

 AnyBackup Linux client installation script does not allow to install in /root directory.

 

Resolution

 To resolve this issue, choose another directory:

 1.Log in to Linux host through SSH and root credentials, create a new directory:

    mkdir /eisoo

Note: the command above creates a directory names eisoo, you can choose other name.

    And then, upload AnyBackup Linux client package to the directory you created.

2. Uncompress AnyBackup Linux client package:

    tar zxvf AnyBackupClient_Redhat_5_x64.tar.gz
    

3. Open bin directory, then run AnyBackup Linux client script:

    cd  AnyBackupClient/app/bin

    . /install.sh
    

 

More Information

The eight directories, /root, /dev, /media, /boot, /bin, /home, /lib and /lib64, are not allowed for AnyBackup Linux client installation. This is by design of AnyBackup for security considerations.
